Feeding Families
Lakeside gets to help Twin Lakes Food Bank (TFLB) provide Thanksgiving meals for 500 families! In addition to their regular meal service, TFLB is gearing up for their Thanksgiving meal giveaway—a much anticipated event for our food insecure neighbors. Lisa Tuter, director of TFLB, says the line typically begins forming hours before food distribution begins. Guests are grateful and are able to fill out notes for a gratitude tree for display at TFLB.
“With the recent increase in grocery prices and the forecast that turkey prices will increase 10-15%, we know that the needs in our community will remain high. Because of the generosity of this amazing community, our neighbors in need will be able to share love and gratitude around their holiday dinner table,” Lisa said.
Guests are treated to a turkey and a bag of items such as stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, cream soups, gravy, rolls, and pie. Homeless clients receive a modified bag with read-to-eat items.
Lakeside has volunteered to donate 200 turkeys. Please drop off frozen turkeys in the Lobby at our November 7 and November 14 gatherings.
