  • All middle schoolers will be required to adhere to the Middle School Code of Conduct.

No matter how big or small the role, each person plays a HUGE part in creating a great week for hundreds of kids at Summer Blitz! Explore the various roles below, and please note that some roles have age and experience requirements.

Upon registration, you will choose your TOP TWO choices and will be notified on May 1 of your volunteer area assignment.

  • Help kids connect to our theme and daily lessons through art, crafts, and hands-on activities. In this role you will:

    • Help set up art stations for the day.

    • Assist with a variety of hands-on (and sometimes messy!) art activities.

    • Help restock and clean up supplies.

    • Engage with and encourage kids as they create and play.

  • Help lead kids to experience Jesus through worship. In this role you will:

    • Help open and close camp with high-energy dance outdoors.

    • Lead and participate in worship songs from the stage or floor alongside kids.

    • Set a positive example for kids all day.

    • Engage with and encourage kids throughout the day, on and off the stage.

    • Must be available for some evening practices prior to Summer Blitz. Practices begin the week of April 13. The schedule is sent out in advance. Participants must be able to commit to the majority of practices and all training dates.

    • Space is limited. Adults and students selected for this team must regularly attend Lakeside Church and be actively following Jesus.

  • This team helps with the day-to-day activities to keep camp running smoothly. In this role you will:

    • Assist the Facilities lead members in answering radio calls to deliver ice.

    • Repair things that are broken or not working. 

    • Help with area clean-up and trash removal.

    • Be a helping hand throughout camp. You will move throughout campus being accesible and available when anyone needs your assistance.

  • Our Guest Services team are the first people to welcome kids and families to camp when they arrive. In this role you will: 

    • Greet and direct families as they arrive on campus each morning.

    • Help guide visitors, assist with late arrivals and early dismissals, support groups of kids as they rotate through camp, or serve as a bathroom monitor.   

    • Check out campers as they depart at the close of camp each day..

  • Every volunteer deserves a little snack to help fuel them for the day! In this role you will:

    • Prepare and set up snacks for volunteers.

    • Keep Hospitality Area clean and organized.

    • Be available to serve in Hospitality area for the Adults/High Schoolers or for the Middle School LITs.

    • Provide encouragement to the volunteers, especially the many student volunteers serving at Blitz.

  • Leader Lounge volunteers provide coffee, snacks, and lunch to the Summer Blitz Leadership Team and their families who serve on campus for extended hours each day of Blitz. On this team you will: 

    • Help prepare and serve food to feed the Leadership Team during the week of Summer Blitz.

    • Be available to come in early to prepare coffee and set up breakfast foods OR be available to stay late to serve lunch.

    • Clean and organize the Leader Lounge area.

    • Follow kitchen protocol and work effectively with a team.

    Adults only.

  • As a Medical Team volunteer, you will be positioned in one of our first Aid stations. In this role, you will:

    • Act as a helping hand, passing out Band-Aids or ice packs and aiding anyone who may get injured or need a rest break. 

    You must be 21 or older and first aid certified.

  • Capture the details and excitement of camp through photography. On this team you will: 

    • Take and edit camp photos and upload to a shared album.

    • Help with group photos, from arranging kids and encouraging big smiles, to printing and assembling take-home photo cards. 

    • Need to own and have proficient use of DSLR camera (or equivalent) in indoor and outdoor settings, and a photo editing program.

  • Our Summer Blitz preschool is available only for volunteers’ kids (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers). This is a FUN and safe “mini-camp” where kids learn, play, and grow together, and it requires many helping hands! In this role you will: 

    • Arrive by 8:15am. Serve until 1:15pm

    • Care for, read to, and play with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.

    • Work with a team to maintain clean, safe, and nurturing environments. 

    • Support needs of kids throughout the day.

  • Recreation is a huge reason why kids LOVE Blitz! This team has a HUGE job—bringing the fun and energy, while maintaining a safe environment for campers while they have fun in the sun! Join this team if you are ready to work with a team, work hard, and don’t mind getting wet! In this role you will:

    • Supervise outdoor wet n’ wild inflatables and water slides.

    • Enforce all REC and inflatable rules, kindly and consistently. 

    • Encourage kids and help keep the REC area super fun and super safe.

    (Not available to incoming 6th graders.)

  • Safety is the number one priority at camp. This team is vital in keeping our church campus safe for 1,000+ kids and volunteers. In this role you will:

    • Be helpful to support traffic needs at camp arrival and pick-up. Understand campus flow of traffic, maps, and needs. 

    • Help supervise and support campus entries and exits during camp while campus is closed.

    • Monitor campus perimeters.

    • Work alongside safety team leads and perform other duties, as assigned.

    Adults only.

  • As a Group Leader, you will be the main leader of a group of kids for all 4 days of camp. You will have Group Assistants (high schoolers or middle school LITs) to work with and assist you. In this role you will:

    • Arrive early to prepare your area and welcome campers.

    • Engage with kids to get to know them throughout the week.

    • Set the example of following Jesus in everything you do. Participate fully and with excitement in all aspects of camp, and encourage kids to do the same.

    • Sign kids in and out each day and carefully supervise check-out.

    • Guide groups to the different areas throughout camp and keep everyone together.

    • Closely monitor children throughout the day.

    • Help keep track of kids’ belongings.

    • Support individual needs (for many, this is their first time at camp) to help ensure they have a great time at Blitz.

    • Guide Small Group Discussion time based on daily Bible lessons, and engage with kids in faith conversations throughout the day.

    • Pray for your group.

    • NEW REQUIREMENT: Must be able to serve all 4 days of camp. Must attend Group Leader Training. (Date to be determined.

  • As a Group Leader, you will be the main leader of a group of kids for all 4 days of camp. (You will have high school or middle-school LIT group Assistants with you.) In this role you will: 

    • Arrive early to prepare your area and welcome campers.

    • Engage with kids to get to know them throughout the week.

    • Set the example of following Jesus in everything you do. Participate fully and with excitement in all aspects of camp, and encourage kids to do the same.

    • Sign kids in and out each day. Carefully supervise check-out.

  • Assist in leading a group of campers through their day at camp. In this role you will:

    • Set an example for kids through ALL of camp. Work with your group leader and other group assistants to make camp safe, fun, positive, and memorable for kids as they play, learn and grow in faith! 

    • Must be able to serve all 4 days of camp. Must attend a Volunteer Training date!

  • Assist in leading a group of campers through their day at camp. In this role you will:

    • Arrive early to help welcome campers!

    • Help supervise kids during check-out.

    • Help guide the group as they rotate! 

    • Get to know kids. Support the needs of children through the day. 

    • Set an example for kids through ALL of camp. Work with your group leader and other group assistants to make camp safe, fun, positive, and memorable for kids as they play, learn and grow in faith! 

    • Must be able to serve all 4 days of camp. Must attend a Volunteer Training date!

  • Help fuel campers with a well-balanced snack during camp. In this role you will:

    • Work with the Snack Team to prepare and distribute snacks for our campers

    • Help assist in passing out snacks bags at camper snack time.

    • Follow all kitchen, safety, and allergy-snacks protocol

    • Be able to carefully follow directions and fulfill responsibilities

    • Help with other duties as assigned, after snack time.

  • Help a child with special needs have a great time at Summer Blitz by providing one-on-one support through our inclusive program. This is a great role for anyone with experience with kids with special needs. In this role you will:

    • Support individual needs of camper as their “buddy” to help them fully experience camp.

    • Be a friend to kids who need extra peer support.

    • Experience preferred, some training will be provided.

    • Must be able to serve all 4 days of camp.

  • This is a great job if you love to help bring camp to life behind the scenes. In this role you will:

    • Help with behind-the-scenes lighting, camera, sound, and computer. 

    • Work with Tech leads. 

    • Must be able to follow directions and fulfill responsibilities. 

    • Must be available for all training dates the week prior to camp.

  • This team demonstrates the heart of camp in very visible ways and in behind-the-scenes moments! This team is for people who are servant hearted and are ready to bring the fun! In this role you will:

    • Arrive early to greet kids with enthusiasm!

    • Be ready to bring the energy, possibly even in costume, to help add team spirit and fun to camp! 

    • Help and cheer for kids as they rotate throughout camp. 

    • Encourage other volunteers through your helping hands and engagement.

    • Come ready to serve with a smile and give your all, whether you are dancing silly alongside kids, helping with snacks or team photos, or high-fiving campers.

    • 2 years of Summer Blitz experience required! 

  • if you love organization, don’t mind a little chaos, and have a heart for leading kids and volunteers, this is a great role for you. Must be attentive to details, flexible, and solution-oriented! In this role you will: 

    • Provide support for our Group Leaders. This looks like helping with rosters and check-in, finding lost backpacks, answering allergy questions, reminding leaders of expectations, and much more.

    • Lead your rotation (20 groups) as they rotate across campus- with an understanding of the big picture of camp.

    • Work as a team, under your Rotation Lead.

    • Must be able to serve all 4 days of camp AND have at least one year of experience as a Summer Blitz Group Leader.

  • All new Summer Blitz volunteers aged 18+ must be Live Scanned. Lakeside will be offering free Live Scans on Sunday, March 29 and Sunday, May 17.
