FAQs
-
Our Rooted team will prayerfully place participants into groups of about 10-15 people. We group by mens, womens, coeds, and young adults. A substantial amount of prayer and thoughtfulness goes into creating groups that we think will provide the best experience for all people who attend. While we do our best to honor requests, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all friend or leader requests.
-
If you miss Week One, your leader will be in contact with you and you can still join your group. For the best Rooted experience, we recommend not missing more than two weeks. If your schedule requires you to miss more than two, feel free to jump in when the next Rooted session starts.
-
We understand that Rooted is a large time commitment, but we believe it is worth it to invest in the entire process. If you know you are going to miss more than two meetings, we ask that you wait until the next session of Rooted. The ten weeks are a cumulative experience, and so we ask that every participant commit to honor each other with being at every meeting.

All you really need to know is that it's going to be amazing! You will receive instructions before the first day notifying you when you can pick up your book. Upon your arrival for your first Rooted group, you will be directed to where your group will be meeting, introduced to your leader, and then guided through your first session. That day will consist of worship, a short teaching, and conversation with your group. From there you will be given instructions for what to expect in the following weeks.
-
All Rooted groups will meet at Lakeside Church on either Sunday or Tuesday evenings.
-
Childcare is available for one-year-olds through fifth graders. Upon registering for Rooted, you will also have the opportunity to register your children for the ten weeks of childare: $50/child.
A Word from Pastor Ryan
Over the course of my time in ministry, I have had countless conversations with people about what it looks like to be a follower of Jesus. We often confuse accepting Jesus with following Jesus. Accepting Jesus is a step in the journey of following him, but if we stop at accepting, then we can turn Jesus into simply being a teacher or an insurance policy for the afterlife. Let's lean into following Jesus, to becoming who he desires us to be, and to ultimately becoming more like him.
Rooted is an opportunity to move beyond accepting Jesus to encountering him and following him passionately. It will engage you in community, experiential practices, daily devotions, and honest conversations. Whether you are exploring the idea of following Jesus for the first time or have had a relationship with him for decades, you will discover a new type of growth in Rooted. Through Rooted, new relationships will be formed, honest conversations will happen, and the movement of the Holy Spirit will be experienced as you engage with your Rooted group. I hope you will join us as we seek to move beyond acceptance, stagnation, and contentment into a transformative, growing, moving relationship with Jesus!

Testimonials
“I went into Rooted with little expectation, even though I was told it was a game changer. I mean, how much can happen in ten weeks? Prior to Rooted, I was your typical seat warmer, shaking hands with strangers and seeing a few known faces while enjoying the sermons and singing my heart out. Rooted made me realize that while I was showing up faithfully, I was not truly connected to the body. From the start of the study, I chose to shed my protective bubble, and the result was amazing—I felt seen, known and truly loved. I felt that I actually belonged to the church and the church belonged to me; these were my people who I no longer recognized by face but by heart. Somewhere during those ten weeks, I merged with Jesus and learned to love more authentically and unconditionally while breaking a few strongholds that plagued me my entire life. Turns out, Rooted really was a game changer.”

Andrea experienced Rooted at a church in South Carolina before moving to Folsom and making Lakeside her home.
“My wife and I signed up for Rooted, which we were told wasn’t like any other study or group. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was pretty sure I could not be impacted in a short ten weeks. But over the weeks of Rooted, I developed relationships with a group of men, shared my story and strongholds, got to know their life stories and struggles, and felt like I was an important part of a larger community. God strategically placed every one of us in that Rooted group to be together at that exact time. By the time we finished the Rooted experience, we didn’t just attend church, we belonged there—we were a part of the body."
