Welcome to the Pathway of a Disciple!

The mission of Lakeside Church is to transform as many people as possible into passionate and productive followers of Jesus. The Pathway of a Disciple is a tool to move you forward in that life-changing process.

The Pathway of a Disciple is a self-guided journey through the Christian life. The journey of a disciple begins when we put our trust in Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior. But then where do we go? Is the path the same for everyone? Or is my journey with Jesus unique?

Here’s how it works.

As you click through this website journey, you’ll come to three markers, simply titled “Marker One, Marker Two and Marker Three.” Each Marker offers four areas to advance your spiritual growth:

     

  • Christian Media (Books, Blogs, Podcasts, Websites)
  • Spiritual Practices (Prayer, Scripture, Service, Stewardship, Significant Relationships)
  • Biblical Beliefs (Workshops designed to build a biblical foundation and spiritual formation)
  • Service Opportunities (Events and activities to serve others locally, nationally and globally)

Under each category are several choices. You can click through the whole Pathway and read about every opportunity before you actually begin on any of them. It’s your choice. We believe each choice you make will move you forward on the path with Jesus. We have set up and defined the Markers to simply reflect movement on your journey as a disciple.

At Lakeside we believe the path of discipleship meanders. There is no one-size-fits-all map for Christian spiritual growth. The Pathway of a Disciple lets you decide where you want to go and how you want to get there. Most of us don’t grow in a straight line, so the Pathway of a Disciple meanders as well. There’s nothing wrong with that, provided that we are trusting Jesus and following him.
