Weekly Local Impact Opportunities

We have a lot going on with our local partners that you can engage in by e-mailing us at takeastep@lakesidechurch.com. There are three we want to call your attention to this spring:

Sundays: Lakeside Church in Orangevale

You can serve with the “transformers” helping set up or take down for the weekend worship gathering, or apply to help with Kidsfest

Mon-Fri: Theodore Judah Elementary Mentoring

• Devote an hour a week to making a difference in the life of a child through a lunch hour mentoring buddy program.
• Homework Help – Monday to Thursday afterschool help for children needing simple guidance in school and life.
• Character Club – Monday or Wednesday, give an hour once or twice a week after school to help build kids of character using a simple character curriculum.

Tuesdays: Cultural Connection

Change a life by giving an hour to listen to and interact with a Spanish speaker learning to speak English. Try it once or jump in every week.

Monthly National & Global Zone Huddles

Come learn about what is happening in your area of global interest. Monthly Huddles include partner reports, project updates (including trips) and prayer.
Zone Latin America – Second Saturdays at 4:30pm in Room 201
Zone East Asia – Second Sundays at 9:00am in the Block Lounge
Zone Africa – Third Saturday s at 4:30pm in Room 201

Job Description

General Description
Lakeside believes the people of the church are both called and gifted to be active servants of Jesus Christ.  The Nursery Coordinator leads South and North Park Place (infants-2 year olds).
The nursery provides a safe, clean and organized environment that loves babies-toddlers into the arms of Jesus with grace filled hugs, and tender loving care.

Responsibilities:

Leadership
Lead Lakeside’s weekend ministry to infants-2 year olds and their families.
Recruit, train and support volunteers for Lakeside’s weekend ministry to infants-2 year olds and their families.
Implement a training program for volunteers, including: orientations and training workshops.
Maintain Christ-like relationships with volunteers by regularly communicating with them via lunch/coffee dates, emails, notes, and/or phone calls.
Encourage team work and mutual support by providing leadership in a supportive and nurturing environment for the volunteers, children and their families.
Communicate with parents.  Counsel with parents as necessary.
Meet regularly with Kidsfest Director.
Actively participate in monthly Staff Meetings.
Attend monthly Chapel.

Administration

Review, evaluate and modify classroom supplies and organization.
Ensure classroom and facilities reflect an age appropriate, welcoming, clean and Christian environment.
Ensure appropriate volunteer to child ratios in South and North Park Place.
Ensure that South and North Park Place are set up for all weekend gatherings.
Ensure that South and North Park Place are cleaned up after all weekend gatherings.
Maintain and accurate inventory of equipment and supplies, purchasing or requesting Administrative Assistant to purchase what is needed to cover all weekend gatherings
Monitor and manage the budget for the nursery curriculum and supplies

Regular Price – Beginning February 20

• Option A – Shared Room with Shared Bed – $150
• Option B – Shared Room with Individual Bed – $183

Payment Options:
You may make 2 payments for retreat.

You may make the first payment of $65 for Option A and $80 for Option B until February 27 and the balance would be due March 5.
Beginning March 1, no down payments will be acceptable, retreat must be paid in full.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made by March 8 will be charged a $25 per person cancellation fee. NO REFUNDS will be issued beginning March 9.

Roommate Selection:
All women must list the same roommate combination when registering and must choose the same room option. Due to limited availability of each option, accommodations will be determined on a first registered basis. We will make every effort to accommodate your wishes with regard to roommate and room option choices, but cannot guarantee either.

Planning Meeting

Wednesday, February 3 from 6-7pm
This meeting is only for people who have previously been to Haiti for mission or for other work. If you have “boots on the ground” experience in Haiti, come and meet with Zone Latin America lead Jim Record and Pastor Jeff Kreiser to discuss work and relief team strategies for Lakeside.

“Love Haiti” Meetings

Saturday, February 13 at 4:30pm
Sunday, February 14 at 11am in Room 201
Come to EITHER of these meetings if you have interest in participating in a Haiti Relief Team. We plan to send multiple teams out for relief, you can join one of them. Come get an application, learn about our preparation process and get your questions answered.

We are concerned for the people of Haiti in the wake of the devastating effects of the earthquake there. God’s word says, “If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered” {Proverbs 21:13). We are responding to the cry of the poor. We are currently receiving financial donations which are being both directed to a long term partner of Lakeside Church, www.MissionsDoor.org , as well as being set aside for Mission Impact Trips in the coming months in relief and rebuilding efforts. If you would choose to give this offering to those in need, click here to use our online giving option, or write “Haiti Relief” in the memo section of a check which you can bring or send to Lakeside Church. If you are interested in being part of a team going on a short term, ten day Mission Impact Trip to Haiti in the March to November time frame, please send a quick e-mail to us at takeastep@lakesidechurch.com and we will place you on the interest list.
