Opening Doors for the Kingdom

Mission Partners: Steve and Dawn Liberti

Out of an undeniable sense of calling by God on their lives, Steve and Dawn Liberti left Folsom with their two young daughters in 2011 to serve as missionaries in Germany with Proclaim International. Proclaim uses the creative arts—music, visual arts, dance, mime, etc.—to reach communities.

“Music and the arts transcend language and culture and are a universal language in and of itself.” Steve said. “For me, music is an especially amazing way to deliver truth about a life of following Jesus and is a powerful tool for the kingdom, able to break down barriers and stereotypes about Christianity.”

Steve plays drums as a gateway to share the gospel but also organizes and leads teams, recruits and trains new missionaries to share the gospel, and assists small under-resourced churches. During his ten years in Germany his focus has been on the countries of the Balkan peninsula, but Steve and Dawn are excited to now have a new focus—the United States.

Sensing a need for more staff to be able to respond to the needs of the church in America, Proclaim recently relocated all German staff back to the U.S. to support the new focus. “We see a clear need for evangelistic outreach here in the States, particularly in this time of history,” Steve said.

The Libertis are now working at Proclaim’s headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida. Dawn works in finance and administration for missionary services while Steve continues to recruit, train, and lead teams, now for both international and domestic ministry.

Both Steve and Dawn remain passionate about their love for people and for Jesus. Steve said, “To have an opportunity to learn about a person’s story and hear about their life and culture and then be able to speak into that with grace, love, and truth is eternally priceless and sacred.”

Steve and Dawn are returning to Folsom for a visit and are excited to see family and friends and to meet face-to-face with their supporters and partners. Before joining the mission field, Steve played drums for Lakeside’s worship team. We are glad to welcome him back to the Lakeside stage where he will be playing percussion with our worship team in early December!
