Christmas Community Offering 2022
Lakeside's annual Christmas Community Offering is an opportunity outside of your normal giving to bless a specific community need. World Relief Sacramento is the recipient of this year’s offering.
Imagine your home ravaged by war, forcing you to flee the country, culture, and language you’ve always known, displaced with no job, house, furniture, or car—helping hands almost essential to your survival.
World Relief Sacramento, part of global organization World Relief, serves as those helping hands and as a personal connection for refugees from war-torn countries. The organization rents and furnishes apartments for newly arrived refugees so they have a roof over their heads, a stable home, and an address so they can enroll their kids in school.
More refugees enter Sacramento than any other U.S. city, and World Relief Sacramento welcomes them, living out Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:31–46 to care for the “least of these”—those most vulnerable and in need. Lakeside is excited to extend generosity to World Relief Sacramento this Christmas.
Each week, the organization provides 3–10 families with deliveries of housewares and furniture, requiring the costly rental of a moving truck several times each week. The organization would like to purchase a 7x14 enclosed trailer to alleviate the associated expense and time of truck rentals. Cost of the trailer is estimated at $12,000. Additionally, World Relief Sacramento is in need of more dinette sets, so families can experience eating together around a table.
